Whose Bill?

Food security bill is a good attempt by the government to ensure food and nutritional security to all. The bill is designed to extend subsidized food to pregnant women and children under the age of 16. The bill will ensure the security to almost 67% of population at the subsidized rate of Rs. 1-3. The eligible population will get 5 kg in total of rice, wheat, pearl millet and sorghum per month. Rice @ Rs. 3/kg, Wheat @ Rs. 2/kg and coarse cereals @ Re 1/kg. Being a nationwide project it will cost from 0.8% to 1.1% of GDP. The government says it will provide 62 million tonnes of food a year under the bill and the size of the subsidy is estimated around $24 billion. Now the population is increasing geometrically, value of currency is declining, inflation is increasing so the operating cost will also increase. These all means more expense on subsidy annually. Trade isn't about goods. Trade is about information. Goods sit in the warehouse until information moves them.   (Unknown) A  warehouse  is a  commercial building  for storage of  goods . Warehouses are used by  manufacturers ,  importers ,  exporters ,  wholesalers ,  transport  businesses,  customs , etc. They are usually large plain buildings in industrial areas of cities and towns and villages(Source- Wikipedia). This is the simple definition of warehouse, but its importance and working system is not that plain. It helps all segments of market right from producer to consumer.  Farmers usually don't get the price which they should get. In lump sum we can say the return on investment part for farmers in most of the cases has been discouraging.
